This is the very FIRST time I’ve exhibited my illustrations and I’m so excited but also my stomach is filled with butterflies. I hope to see you there! I started my #100daysoffashion project as a challenge to myself. A way to be more disciplined and to develop my skills. I had no intention of putting them in a gallery-that was the furthest thing from my mind. When I started out I thought “This will help me get through the winter” and it really became a kind of meditation that I cherish. Now I’m not sure I can go a day without painting or at least drawing. A life filled with daily painting and drawing was a far fetched dream just a few years ago.
Stella, at the Mala Galleria (which is btw the loveliest little gallery-you will LOVE it), and I were chatting one day when I mentioned my personal project. She encouraged me to bring some of them down to the studio so she could see them-and I, nervously, did. When she suggested we show a few of them in June my mouth dropped open. ME? at a gallery? Me! At a Gallery!
My girls will be just one part of the Mala Galleria June show. Stella has the most interesting work in her gallery-and each month it changes. You will be inspired-as I am!
Here’s a few of the girls I’ve painted–I post them almost everyday on my Facebook biz page and on Instagram.
I’ll have the originals, many framed, and I’ll also have prints of some of my favorites. I asked my friends on Instagram what else they might like to see the girls on and I got lots of great feedback! So I’ve made some tote bags, phone covers, mugs, and more. I may even have a few of them at the show. Some of the cases are already in my etsy shop, Heather’s Sketchbook.
If you’re headed this way from out of town be sure to check out Longwood Gardens--the refurbished fountains have finally opened!
See y’all soon!!
