Happy Saturday y’all!
Last week I was so honored to be included in a blog hop by my friend Stephanie Ryan. She was asked to write a post about people who inspire her and one of them was me! (read her post here!) How nice of Stephanie-thank you darlin’!! Stephanie is a real inspiration to me too!
So as part of the Blog Hop-“Tag I’m it!”–I chose a few people who inspire me. And then next Saturday they write on their blogs about folks that inspire them–see how this works?
Without further ado-let me introduce you to my new internet friend Heatherlee Chan. Heatherlee and I met in Monica Lee’s Smart Creative Style class this past Spring. Its a GREAT class!! As a way to help the class communicate and keep ideas flowing a private Facebook page was set up where we could all meet ‘n greet. So anyway–Heatherlee and I met in the FB page and have kept up with each other since. She’s on one coast and I’m on the other–but no matter. We are equally in awe of one another’s work!
Heatherlee Chan’s work has a freshness to it–its gentle & sweet & graceful…um-just like her!

Heateherlee is one talented lady! I consider myself a huge fan–and am already adding some of her prints to my favorites lists on etsy for Christmas & upcoming b-days. Put Heatherlee on your radar–she’s a star on the rise!! As sweet and lovely as her work is…Heatherlee is all that & much more. Read more about Heatherlee here.

Next Up is one amazing mover and shaker! Just following her journey on Instgram leaves me a lil tired–this gal has LOADS of energy!!
Meet my friend and inspired creative Janelle Montilone from TrashN2Tees
Thanks to our mutual friend Colleen, I was lucky enough to actually meet and hang out with Janelle in real life! We don’t live too far from each other, but we first met online at Oh my handmade goodness (which is a wonderful community of creatives where I’ve met some inspiring & genuine folks)
Janelle’s mission–through her award-winning company TrashN2Tees–is to “change the way we consume & create.” She is a “recycling & repurposing revolutionary” Taking discarded clothing–what would normally end up in a landfill–she creates new and wonderful works of art to wear. But she is more than just a creative making tshirts from trash. She is working to change the way we all consume. She teaches (as an Bernina spokesperson and ambassador!) , innovates new uses for ordinary things, & offers tips on running indie business. TrashN2Tees also partners with businesses and organizations to hold recycling events & has a clothing recycling program.
I love this pinterest board she put together too: “The MOTHERLOAD of tutorials to refashion &/or reimagine your unwanted or worn out tshirts into something new”
Janelle’s recent post on her blog “How much of a difference is Eco-fashion really making” is worth reading…after this of course! Janelle is also working to create an app –the Create Change App–to help inform us all of new & innovative ways to reuse/recylce household items! I mean there is just no stopping this gal! From her site: “The Create Change movement is a recycling & consumption revolution.” Jenelle has diverted more than 20 tons of clothing from our landfills by partnering with state agencies and local organizations to offer TrashN2Tees clothing and textile recycling.
AND–Janelle received this award: 2013 Best In Green Business for the NYEr Small Biz Awards and later heralded as one of 8 leading innovators!
Go get em girl!!
