Hi, I’m Heather…I just want to draw all day!
I grew up in a small East Texas town drawing characters from books I’d read, homes I’d love to live in, and the glamorous gowns of Hollywood stars like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.
Inspired, I went on to study fashion design and historical costume in college.
Upon graduating, I had the amazing opportunity to work at a costume company in Houston and on the set of a Disney movie in Austin. All the while my drawing pad and pencils kept pulling at my heartstrings. The things that we do best are those that make us happiest, after all.
April Heather Art started 20 years ago as mural painting and blossomed into a successful business for my art, illustrations, and embroidery.
There were a few detours, of course…
My husband and I had our first daughter, moved to the East coast, and for several years I taught art classes and painting murals.
After our second daughter was born, we moved to Bucks County, PA. During the seven years that followed, I experienced severe chronic daily migraines. Even more devastating: I couldn’t paint at all during this time. Thankfully, a hysterectomy in 2007 left me migraine-free.
Slowly, I found my way back to my art again. I realized my experiences were helping me paint my feelings — something I had never been able to do before!
Now, my work can be found in books, magazines, desk planners, and in publications like Mollie Makes magazine. You can also spot my illustrations on housewares and art & craft supplies at major retailers nationwide.
It’s a truly invigorating journey — one I feel incredibly blessed share with you.
Interested in working together? I’d love to hear all about your project!
